Perfect weather for a day at the pumpkin patch. It was really busy there -- obviously not a novel idea -- but we had a really nice time! Odessa was very into choosing "her" pumpkin (I had to steer her towards the smallish ones), loved the hay ride, and at about a thousand grapes on the car ride home.

Last night I was up reading later than usual. When I did go to bed, I used my reading light to determine how I could crawl into the bed without crushing baby Odessa. This is what I saw in the faint glow of the reading light. I just had to get a photo of our family bed (and Odessa's lack of the concept of "personal space").
So, I am constantly getting Larry and I into extra jobs in order to make/save money. One year we spent two weeks selling fireworks at one of those little stands. In retrospect I think that we had fun. The latest is that I agreed that we would clean the apartment grounds for three hundred dollars off of rent. Last weekend was our first and it took SIXTEEN hours! We are hoping it goes faster in subsequent weeks.
This weekend the weather could not have been any more beautiful! And I am happy to say that we took full advantage of it. We went to the Saturday Market and then had our dinner at the park, picnic style. Odessa LOVES collecting all the flowers (dandelions) and bringing them to mom and dad.
I left Odessa for the evening with her daddy. When I came back, they were sitting side-by-side at the kitchen table. Larry had his laptop open in front of him and Odessa was working with her own keyboard.
So we are not into buying a lot of stuff for Christmas. I loved it as a kid, but now as an adult living in middle-class America, I just don't really get it. It isn't that I am shunning commercialism either. It is more practical than that. There is really nothing that we want really badly and that we wouldn't just purchase ourselves. Yes, I could buy Larry a new sweater. Or he could just buy one himself.Anyway, my point it this. We went to Cape Meares for the Christmas holiday prefering going to someplace over getting things that we really do not need or care about. We had a really good time and were bored out of our minds all at the same time. It was nice to have the days "off" and have nothing that we had to do.
We hope to go back sometime in the Summer. I think it will be great when the weather is warmer and we can play on the beach and eat dinner on the deck.
What a good daddy. He can take care of fur-baby Lily and Odessa at the same time. And it looks like he is getting a rest too!
